Enercon is now registered with the United States Department of State as an ITAR Registered Manufacturer as required by the Arms Export Control Act (AECA). ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulation) is an arms export control regulation issued by the US Government. It includes policies and provisions related to prohibited exports, imports and sales to or from specific countries, and is designed to ensure that defense-related technology does not get into the wrong hands.
All manufacturers, exporters, temporary importers, and brokers of defense articles related to technical data and defense services, as defined by the United States Munitions List, are required to register with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). It is primarily a means to provide the U.S. Government with necessary information on who is involved in certain ITAR controlled activities.
ITAR regulation, in compliance with The Arms Export Control Act (AECA) ensures that, unless special approval is granted, only U.S. citizens will have access to U.S. proprietary defense secrets and related information and technologies. Failure to comply with AECA provides for criminal penalties of up to 10 years in prison and $1 million in fines for each violation.
