As PMO Manager, you will lead and develop our team of Project Managers (PMs), ensuring predictable delivery, cost control, and on-time execution for multidisciplinary electronics-based NPD and NPI projects, primarily for medical devices. You will build a high-performing, technically fluent PM team, oversee project execution, and represent the project management function in key customer interactions. You will directly manage your team—including hiring, performance reviews, and career development. You will also stay engaged with projects to provide technical and project management guidance that ensures well-informed decisions and successful outcomes.

In the role of PMO Manager:

  • You will manage the PM team, including hiring, staffing, performance reviews, and career development, ensuring team members have clear goals and growth opportunities.

  • You will lead and mentor project managers in planning, execution, and technical decision-making.

  • You will build and implement PMO processes, tools, and standards that ensure regulatory compliance, technical rigor, and predictable project delivery.

  • You will oversee the planning and execution of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.

  • You will coach project managers in developing technically sound project plans and anticipating compliance, design, and manufacturing challenges.

  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to remove blockers and ensure smooth project delivery.

  • You will support PMs in managing customer expectations, project scope, and assessing trade-offs, ensuring adjustments are clearly communicated.

  • You will partner with Account Managers to represent project status, risks, and delivery plans in customer meetings and business reviews.

  • You will support Sales with technically informed project planning input for quotes and proposals for NPD and NPI projects.

  • You will foster a culture of accountability, technical curiosity, and continuous improvement within the PM team.

  • You will identify opportunities to add value for customers and the company beyond baseline project scope and constraints.

The skills you need to succeed:

  • You must have strong technical understanding of electronics, embedded systems, embedded software, and associated NPD processes.

  • You must have familiarity with electronics-based manufacturing and NPI processes, including DFM/DFT, production test development, production process development, and validation.

  • You must have knowledge of medical device regulatory standards (ISO 13485, FDA, EU MDR, etc.) and best practices for compliance in NPD, NPI, and manufacturing.

  • You must have ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable project plans, balancing customer priorities, technical feasibility, and internal resources.

  • You must have proficiency with project planning, scheduling, and shared resource management tools; Microsoft Project experience desirable.

  • You must have strong ability to manage customer expectations and communicate project scope, changes, and trade-offs effectively.

  • You must have strong leadership and mentoring skills to develop high-performing, technically competent project managers, including experience managing hiring, performance, and career growth.

  • You must have demonstrated experience in cross-functional leadership, problem-solving, and risk management.

  • You must have excellent communication skills for both technical and business audiences.

Education & Experience Required:

  • 5–10 years of project management experience in electronics product development or contract manufacturing, including experience leading a team of PMs.

  • Engineering degree in electronics, systems integration, or manufacturing engineering strongly preferred.

  • Proven success guiding multi-disciplinary project teams through design, verification, regulatory approval, and transfer-to-manufacturing.

  • Experience in regulated industries, with strong preference for medical devices; experience in automotive, defense, or other complex product sectors also valued.

  • PMP or equivalent certification desirable; Lean/Six Sigma or similar process improvement experience a plus.
